Medium-pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been called back to India for the five-match T20I series against New Zealand that starts on October 24. The 36-year-old player hasn’t played in a T20I since November 2022 in New Zealand, so his return is a long time coming. He was brought back into the team by the BCCI selection committee, which was led by Pragyan Ojha.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was called up because he played so well for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026. During the event, he took 28 wickets at an economy rate of 7.95, making him the second-highest wicket-taker as the team successfully defended its title. The selection committee made their choice based on how he played in leagues.
Appreciation for work and character
Karthik said Bhuvneshwar Kumar should enjoy the rest of his international cricket career since he had to wait almost four years.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar record in T20I cricket shows that he has played at the top level.
The fast bowler has been in 87 T20Is and has taken 90 wickets at an average of 23.10 and an economy rate of 6.96. These numbers show how consistent and good he has been in the shortest format over the course of his international career.
