In a quest for the title in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026, Texas Super Kings bounced back from their defeat on Friday to score an emphatic 22-run victory over San Francisco Unicorns at Oakland on Wednesday. The stop in the combined two-match defeat and jump-in to second place with this win got up the Super Kings in seconds.
Put into bat, Texas Super Kings scored a total of 161 for 8 in their 20 overs. An aggressive opening stand between skipper Faf du Plessis and Saiteja Mukkamalla set up the innings well. The duo put on 72 in less than eight overs crushing any hopes the Unicorns might have had of bowling Renegades out for a decent score early on.
But the Super Kings were undone by an unsightly middle-order collapse, going from 96 for no loss to a horror 96 for 5. When the innings seemed to be drifting, Donovan Ferreira played a crucial role with the bat. The South African batter hit 45 runs off just 28 balls, hitting four sixes and propelling his side to a score that ultimately proved to be decisive in winning.
The San Francisco Unicorns started strong in their chase but quickly encountered problems. When central bank transfer pricing specialist Amshi de Silva took to the field, he sparked a spell that changed the course of the game by breaching first-knot defences so early in an innings. He removed Finn Allen before taking two further scalps in a pivotal over to leave the Unicorns in dire trouble.
Matt Short offered some steadiness with a top score of 28 but there was never enough cameos to build any kind of momentum as the Unicorns tried in vain to rebuild after losing early wickets. De Silva, who was a top performer with the ball for Pune, led from the front in the match with impressive figures of 4 for 28 and also received solid support from Abhimanyu Lamba (2) and Adam Milne
The Unicorns batting line up collapsed at regular intervals and with the cap on were a mere 115 for 8 after 15 overs. Contributions from Brody Couch at lower orders only delayed the inevitable for a short period, with the target just too far away.
San Francisco Unicorns were finally all out for 139, handing Texas Super Kings a easy 22-run victory. The win consolidates the Super Kings’ place around the top of the table, while another defeat for right now sees them in the lower half.
