Usman Tariq’s impact on international cricket was immediate following his T20I debut against South Africa in Lahore in November 2025. He was in the public eye due to his performances in other T20 competitions, as well as his participation in the Pakistan Super League, The Hundred, and the Caribbean Premier League in 2026.
Saud Shakeel, a middle-order batsman for Pakistan, recently offered an unvarnished assessment of Usman Tariq‘s current position in the game. Shakeel asserts that the initial novelty surrounding the spinner may be diminishing as opposing batters begin to research and prepare for his techniques. The left-handed batter believes that in order to maintain his productivity, Usman Tariq must modify his approach at this time.
“Usman Tariq quickly established himself in the cricket world; however, batters are now well-prepared to confront him.” Shakeel was quoted as saying on X that Usman will now have to do something different to prove himself.
Shakeel’s statements concerning Usman Tariq require modification.
Usman Tariq most recently competed for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League. In nine games throughout the competition, he claimed 10 wickets at an average of 21.30, with an economy rate of 6.26 and top statistics of 3/21. Shakeel’s analysis suggests that batsmen are becoming increasingly adept at countering his strategy, despite the fact that these numbers demonstrate his continued ability to take wickets.
Shakeel has identified an obstacle that numerous specialist bowlers encounter as their professions advance. A bowler’s initial sense of novelty that rendered them exceptional may diminish as batters become accustomed to their patterns and techniques. Tariq will need to continue developing new strategies and refining his bowling repertoire in order to maintain his influence in international cricket.
