This series served as Smriti Mandhana’s inaugural assignment as India’s full-time captain, enabling her to evaluate player responsibilities and combinations in advance of significant championships.India completed a 3-0 sweep of the T20I series, which commenced on October 16, by defeating Zimbabwe by 92 runs in Raipur on Tuesday.

India’s readiness for the forthcoming championship was underscored by Smriti Mandhana‘s rotation strategy and emphasis on bowling depth throughout the series. The captain elected to bat first in the third match in order to provide the middle order with additional playing time, as the top order struggled in the first match and the second match left the middle order with insufficient batting opportunities. This rotation method guarantyd that the various batting groups were sufficiently provided with time during the course of the series.

Increasing the depth of the bowling attack in preparation for the Champions Trophy.

India’s bowling resources, which encompassed numerous players, were on full display during the Zimbabwe series. In the series, Nandani Sharma recorded six wickets, Kranti Gaud claimed three, and Niki Prasad also secured three. Smriti Mandhana employed six distinct bowlers in the three matches, illustrating the captain’s versatility.

Bowling opportunities were granted to Niki Prasad and Shafali Verma during the series. Since 2021, Shafali Verma has bowled for Haryana and provided off-spin, adding an additional layer of complexity to India’s bowling attack. The squad’s preparation was facilitated by the exposure to a variety of match settings and conditions.

Smriti Mandhana strategically rotated her batting order throughout the series.

The inaugural six-team Women’s Champions Trophy will be held in Mumbai and Vadodara from February 14 to February 28 of the following year. It is anticipated that the conditions for the Zimbabwe series, particularly the prevalence of dew in evening encounters, will be similar to those encountered during the Champions Trophy.
